Being an International Baccalaureate Parent Seminar, Basel, Bluespace coworking, Montag, 22. Oktober 2018

A workshop designed for parents with children who started the first or the second year of the IB Diploma Programme this autumn or whose children are considering the IB Diploma Programme for their final two years of school. A perfect opportunity for those either new to Switzerland, or new to the International Baccalaureate. Please note that this workshop is designed for parents, rather than students, in order to create an atmosphere of openness and honest dialogue between parents.
At Elite IB Education, we have helped support over 4,000 IB students and families around the world to navigate the International Baccalaureate- an immensely rewarding but admittedly at times also a confusing place to be!
The seminar will cover a variety of topics, including:

Transitioning from IGCSE, MYP or a national curriculum

Supporting multiple IB children simultaneously

IB subject selection, balancing academic strengths with university ambition

Motivational techniques

Understanding key IB deadlines

Understanding internal assessments

Where you can go for IB advice and resources

Creating a supportive environment

As IB graduates turned IB educators, we are lucky enough to have experienced both sides of the programme, and in our interactions with parents over the years, we have listened to and answered an enormous variety of questions, undertaking research to ensure we are prepared to answer virtually any IB-related query.
At each seminar, we will provide a selection of useful resources including our own IB Guide, designed both for students and parents, and welcome any queries you may have about how best to provide support during your child’s IB studies.
Through our work, we have supported students at each stage of their IB journey from the early years of the MYP (Middle Years Programme, ages 11-16), through the full Diploma Programme (16-19) and, in some cases, to resitting final IB exams. As such, our expertise is focused not around one particular age group, but on one educational outlook, and we aim to provide all encompassing IB support throughout a student’s IB studies, guiding and supporting, rather than dictating or instructing, at all times.
We draw on our experiences supporting families who have put several children through the IB programme to those who come to the IB with no prior knowledge or experience, and everything in between.
